I gave the lecture “How to use BCP for business, human resource, ICT” at Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka.

Hello! I am Yasuda of Yasuda Consulting. I will write about the lecture “How to use BCP for business, human resource, ICT” which I have given at Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka.

This seminar was held in ASKIDS Forum 2017 of Asakawa Systems Co., Ltd.

The lecture theme is “How to use BCP for business, human resource, ICT”.

The BCP (Business Continuity Plan) in the construction industry plays some important roles. They are not only the continuity of the company but also to protect guests, social infrastructure and new comer guests. It means the role of ensuring business continuity of customer companies.

BCP is an indispensable factor in considering the vision in the future. When we try making  BCP, it is necessary to advance not only business strategy but also human resource development and ICT.

At the seminar I explained the outline of BCP, how to make BCP and the importance of  viewpoint from the vision, human resource development and ICT.

 

I gave the lecture “How to Read and Use Statement of Financial Statements” at “Small Business Enterprise University Kansai School.”

Hello. It is Yasuda Consulting Yasuda. Today, I will introduce the story that I was a trainee lecturer of “How to read and utilize the settlement of accounts” at the small business enterprise school Kansai school for three days.

I am keeping giving this lecture every year since 2011. It is very important to accumulate the contents of the lecture every year to improve the satisfaction of the students by brushing up.

Well, about the content of the lecture, it is a long-term from 9:30 to 17:30 (1 hour break) for each 3 days. We will start by explaining the real basic matters of the income statement and the balance sheet while taking care of “viewpoint of management accounting”. Since most students don’t have bookkeeping knowledge, I do not use bookkeeping words at all. Even if it is important for bookkeeping or tax, I didn’t explain in the case where it was not needed in management company.

First of all from the income statement.

I didn’t explain the meaning of sales but the idea to increase sales.

Cost of sales … Unfortunately this item can be made bigger or smaller by valuation of inventory.  If the company doesn’t correctly take an inventory, cost of sales is not correct. Of course I will not tell you to revise it because it is not important. But you need to understand that it is bad to calculate the cost rate by incorrect value. You should grasp the actual situation.”

Next is the balance sheet.

Accounts receivables, inventory assets, fixed assets are  three brothers which are easy to get extra flesh. To shape up them is effective both in terms of efficiency and cash flow.

“Well then, it’s inventory reduction!”

But you need it to match your company’s business strategy. If your company’s strategy is to have much inventory, increasing inventory is not problem.

I also talked about various ways to reduce accounts receivable.

There is also a story saying “The short-term loan is ・ ・ ・ actually …” as for the debt. In Japan, many CEO invest his private money to company temporarily and it is booked as the short-term loan. And in many cases, this money will not be returned to CEO for ever.

I also explained In addition to the essentials to understand the settlement statement variously.

And next is about “reading financial statements”.

“Since it is a record of the past, it can not be helped to analyze an account statement …”

This opinion is a totally misunderstanding. “Reading a settlement statement” is “to know the future from the past.”

And entrance of financial analysis which does not use numbers. Meaning of standardized financial indicators and procedures of analysis etc.

On the second day I explained the meaning of many values from financial analysis and asked the group to discuss the three business cases. Members gathered at the training are coincidence, but for the first time ever. I took up as much discussion time as possible with the feeling that I wanted to communicate firmly.

Analysis and suggestions using the company’s financial statements on the last day. I asked all students to make an A4 size improvement proposal sheet.

During making sheet, many students gave me questions to solve their problems in their own companies.

And just before the last end. I talked about “Why do we need profits?” and “What is education for?”

I think that we need profits for being happy.

And

Education … for the development of the company … It is a lie. That is the second. Education is for themselves to enjoy life. The next is the development of the company.

I ended up with such a story.

I participated in the company’s training camp

Recently, I joined the company’s training camp. the company is Union Environment Co., Ltd., where I support management.
The purpose of the training camp is to formulate a vision and strategy consideration in formulating the management plan for the next term.

It was the first time for them to do such a training and the challenge for President Tsujino.

Since there are some newly added employees, we first gave a lecture about management plan and knowledge of management.

After that, President Tsujino reviewed this fiscal year and asked employees activities to do next year by using sticky notes.

In discussion, I found one keyword. This is what President Tsujino had been suffering for a long time. In addition. This is what President Tsujino has always wanted to cultivate with employees.

By this discussion, the meaning and purpose of this camp has been confirmed again.

Next, This company has a clear vision. The 2020 vision that was formulated two years ago. In this camp, Some favorable conditions has been added for achievement of this vision.

So, how can we achieve the favorable conditions?

We did many tasks, writing on sticky notes, grouped them, putting out ideas…

We result;y got two strategies.

All of them confirmed that they can cooperate each other and keep motivation for achievement of the 2020 vision.

We clarified some activities according to strategies.

President Tsujino and I will make the management plan of next term after this camp.

Next day President Tsujino gave me a message of thanks. It seems I could support him. I am really happy.

I feel happy to be with this company. I can watch the growth of this company. They will continue to pursue the management philosophy and become happy in the achievement of vision.

I am proud of this work.

I gave a lecture about 5S activities for construction companies.

Hello. I am Katsuya Yasuda of Yasuda Consulting.

On April 10th, I gave a lecture at Working Group of the Chamber of Commerce in Kagawa Prefecture. The theme is “5S in construction industry”.

Speaking of 5S, its importance is frequently reported in manufacturing industry, but it is one of the most important activities in the construction industry.

One of the reasons is “to eliminate disasters on construction site”. Although the start of 5S is Seiri(Sort) and Seiton(Set In Order), it reduces mistakes (near miss) and there is the effect of reducing injury and death accident. This effect is vital for construction industry because there are more dangerous work than other industries.

However, there are many difficulties to go on 5S in construction industry because each sites are in different places and are put a team by different members from multiple companies. If you are the prime contractor, it is easier to do 5S activities than subcontractors. If you are the subcontractor , you need to get consent from prime contractor.

For these reasons, it is better to start 5S in only your company. For example, in warehouse or in tool box.

I believe that 5S doesn’t contains important elements only in keeping safety but alse other areas.

One of them is improving profitability. We can reduce waste. For example, Searching something doesn’t make any productivity. So we reduce many cases of searching something. And we can avoid to be interrupted a construction by keeping cleanliness of tools and machines.

Another is about human resources (recruitment, colonization, education). The process of ‘visualization’ carried out during 5S activities will lead to standardization of rules. It makes easy for fleshmen to work together with skilled workers.In addition to improving recruitment and retention rates, such efforts will affect for workers to get motivation. You can leave 5S activites to workers. It will lead to raising to workers with aggressiveness and independence.

The lecture was only 1 hour. So I focused on the lecture as knowledge of 5S and using 5S for management.

I am happy if it has become a trigger for awareness and improvement of those who participated.

I gave a lecturer for entrepreneur at the Sakai Chamber of Commerce and Industry!

On Saturday, March 11, I gave a lecturer for entrepreneur at the Sakai Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since 2009 I have been a lecturer at this seminar every year.
Also, it is also a seminar I attended before starting my own business.

I renewed the textbook for this seminar to use. I have increased the amount of writing parts so that students can write in various ways and make them original manuals for themselves.

It started with saying “good morning!” At first students replied by small voices. So I said again by larger volume. It is to convey the important point “Do not lose with power and motivation”.

After that, I talked about in general as follows.

The last greeting of the seminar is as follows.

“I appreciate your work today and think that I could tell everything I wanted to tell you. What I taught in this seminar is the knowledge necessary to consider the entrepreneur. You can start your business and you can also stop starting your business. The most important thing is your happiness. I have already explained in this seminar. To became happy is your responsibility. Everyone, please be happy.”

A few days later, I checked questionnaires from students. One of questions is about the content of the seminar and satisfaction with the instructor.
